Twenty years ago, I realized that teaching would always be part of my path forward as an artist. Art teachers over the years saved my life as a teenager, and I am so grateful for the impact those mentorships had on me.
Since 2005, I have taught in Seattle, NYC (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island), and, most recently, in Central New Jersey.
I’ve taught arts classes in public and private schools, art centers, museums, and senior centers. I’ve developed curriculum for children, adults, Parents As Arts Partners, and students with special needs.
Today, I’m looking for students interested in plein air painting, painting/drawing with pastels, and papermaking.

Who: Adults and teens (16+) interested in oil painting outdoors
Paint the majestic scenery at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary in Bernardsville, New Jersey, with professional artist and experienced arts educator Ingrid Marie Harbour. Bring your outdoor painting kit and setup to soak up nature and create beautiful landscape art that soothes your senses. This 3-hour class, geared toward adults who are serious about plein air painting, will meet at NJ Audubon and set up. Each participant chooses their composition. A short demo by the instructor will get you painting quickly, developing an underpainting, using color blocking, and capturing the moment with expressive details. Constructive feedback and guidance will be provided, along with recommendations to enhance your experience.
An approachable yet structured format encourages you to follow your inner calling to make art. Beginner-friendly and open to teen artists (under 18 must be accompanied by an adult; minimum age 16).
Only 10 spots available - each participant must register separately. No walk-ins, pre-registration only. Registration closes on July 16, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
You may request a curated art supply kit for $100 (not including the easel). If you request 2 weeks before the class start date, it will be provided to you on the day of the class.
A full list of suggested materials will be provided upon registration, including what to bring and purchasing recommendations.

Who: Adults and teens (16+) interested in birds and oil pastels
Explore the creamy textures and the bold color pops that oil pastels provide to make a work of art on paper. Create realistic or impressionist portraits of New Jersey native birds, with the guidance of a professional artist and arts educator. Experience the beautiful natural light of the NJ Audubon classroom at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can look right out the window for inspiration. This group class will lead you step-by-step through working from a photograph, establishing a base layer, color blocking, blending techniques, and details that make your composition stand out. Constructive feedback and guidance will be provided.

Materials are included with your registration; each participant will take home a set of 12 pastels and their artwork.
